1. What it’s like here

We are a small team doing a job that most people assume takes a large one. That shapes everything about working here.
There is very little hierarchy and almost no specialisation of the kind you would find at a big manufacturer — people here talk to growers, walk facilities, handle documentation, and answer customer calls, sometimes in the same afternoon. If you want a narrow role with a clear lane, we are honestly not it. If you want to see a whole business from the inside and have your judgment actually matter, there are not many better places in this trade.
The work is real. Fruit is grown by people, moved by people, and specified by people, and the phone is still the primary tool. We have deliberately not put automation between us and our customers, which means the standard for the people here is high: when someone calls, you are the answer.

2. Who does well here

  • People who pick up the phone. Ours is a business of relationships, and the relationships are maintained one call at a time.
  • People who like being right about details. A specification, a certificate date, a lot code, a delivery window. This industry punishes approximation.
  • People who are comfortable not knowing yet. Crops are unpredictable and no two seasons are the same. Curiosity travels further here than certainty.
  • People who have been in the field, or want to be. We started as farmers. It is still the best qualification anyone can bring.

If you work in the fruit trade and you think you would be useful to us, send a note anyway. It gets read by a person, and we have hired from unsolicited introductions before.
