Most supplier quality programs are documentary. A certificate arrives, a form is filed, a box is ticked, and everyone proceeds on the assumption that the paperwork describes the facility. Usually it does. The times it does not are the times it matters.
We do it the other way round. Before we buy from any source, a quality manager physically goes to the facility. We walk the line. We look at the intake, the process, the storage, the records, and the people. Then we decide. Documentation is the output of that visit, not a substitute for it.
This is the most expensive thing we do and the least visible. It is also the foundation under everything else on this site — every clean-label statement, every sourcing paragraph on a product page, every claim a customer’s brand team makes about ingredient quality. All of it rests on somebody having actually been there.

How it works

1

A source is identified through the sourcing network.

2

A quality manager travels to the facility — before the first purchase order, without exception.

3

We evaluate the operation end to end: incoming material handling, process control, sanitation, storage, traceability, and record-keeping.

4

We assess capability, not just compliance. The question is not only “is this facility acceptable today” but “can it hold our specification across a full season.”

5

Where an operation is close but not there, we sometimes invest — in equipment, process, or training — because bringing a good source up to standard is often better than settling for a compliant but mediocre one.

6

Approval, then ongoing review. A first visit is not a permanent pass.

What it means for you

What makes ours different

Everyone in this category has a certifications page. We match all of it — the certificate hub, the documentation, the food safety program. That is table stakes and its absence would disqualify us.
The difference is what sits behind the paperwork. A certificate tells you a facility passed an audit on a particular day. It does not tell you whether the operation runs that way in week three of a heavy season. Our quality managers have seen both versions of a lot of facilities, and that judgment is what we are actually selling.

The objection
"Every supplier says their quality is good. Why should I believe this?"
Because it is falsifiable. Ask us about a specific ingredient and we will tell you when someone from our team was last in the facility that produces it, and what they were looking at. A supplier who cannot answer that question is describing an aspiration. We would rather be asked.
