1. Our position

Sustainability copy in the ingredient trade has a reputation problem, and it earned it. Most of it consists of photographs of hands holding soil next to sentences that commit to nothing.
We would rather be short and specific. Below are four areas where what we do has a real effect, described in terms you could check. There are several other things we are not claiming, and those are listed too — because a supplier who claims everything is telling you nothing, and the people reading this page for a supplier questionnaire will recognise the difference immediately.
We started as farmers. The commercial reality underneath all of this is simple: a grower who cannot make a living stops growing, and a supply chain that treats a bad season as somebody else’s problem does not have a supply chain for very long. Sustainability, for us, is mostly a long-term version of self-interest — which is exactly why it is durable.

2. Four areas

Grower and processor partnerships

Long relationships rather than annual re-tendering. A source who expects to be our source next year invests differently in their operation. Where a partnership warrants it, we invest directly in equipment, process, or training — the most concrete sustainability practice in this company.

Fruit that would otherwise be lost

A large share of what any orchard grows never reaches a fresh shelf — wrong size, wrong shape, marked, or harvested in a week the fresh market did not need it. Nutritionally identical. Every dried apple dice and every drum of puree is fruit that was grown and did not get thrown away.

Freight and inventory efficiency

Consolidated freight into a stocking location, then short domestic runs, moves fruit more efficiently per pound than direct-to-plant on demand — and cuts the expedited and air-freight emergencies that happen when a program runs out. We did this for speed. The efficiency is real, and we will not dress it up as an initiative.

The organic range

Certified organic across purees and selected dried fruit, and membership of the Organic Trade Association. A documented, third-party-audited standard rather than a self-declared position — which is precisely why it is on this page and several other things are not.

3. Nutrition

Nutrition is one of our named brand themes and it belongs here rather than in a separate corner of the site. Real fruit and vegetables, in formats built for manufacturing, let a formulator put recognisable ingredients on a label — the same ingredients a consumer would find in their own kitchen. Clean-label positioning only works if the ingredient behind it is actually the simple thing the label implies. Ours are. → Clean label and formulation: Applications

4. Data for your reporting

Your ESG report needs supplier data. Here is ours.

If you are a large manufacturer, your sustainability reporting obligations are increasingly landing on your suppliers’ desks — specifically on the emissions and sourcing data attached to what you buy.

California’s climate disclosure laws are the current pressure point. SB 253 requires large companies doing business in the state to report Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions beginning in 2026, and Scope 3 — which is where purchased ingredients live — from 2027. The requests are already moving down supply chains, and a supplier who cannot answer them creates work for somebody on your team.

What we will not do is estimate a number we cannot support so that a form looks complete. If we do not have it, we will say so and tell you what we are doing about it. → Request Supplier Sustainability Documentation

5. What we’re not claiming

Review before publishing. If any of these do exist with evidence, move them up into section 2. This list should shrink over time, and a visible review date makes that progress legible rather than invisible.

The objection

“Everyone has a sustainability page. Why is yours worth reading?”

Because it is shorter than it could be. We could have filled this page — the vocabulary is free and nobody audits a website. What is on it instead is four things with evidence behind them and a list of the things we deliberately did not claim.

If your sustainability team wants to test that, the fastest way is to send us your supplier questionnaire. You will learn more about how we operate from the answers than from anything written above.

Last reviewed: [MONTH YEAR] — sustainability content ages badly and undated claims age worst. It also quietly proves the page is maintained rather than written once in 2026 and abandoned.
